Pieter’s FTE host offers the QuakeWorld route for up to eight players.
Q3JS combines a server list with documented touch controls and demo data.
The original Quake II sends a human soldier into the territory of the Strogg, a hostile force whose machinery and bodies are closely intertwined. Its industrial science fiction setting distinguishes it from the castles, monsters and dark fantasy of the first Quake.
The current commercial Quake II package includes a campaign, expansions and an enhanced presentation. Those are features of that release. Pieter's browser page is specifically a multiplayer launch, so it is a different destination from buying the campaign or choosing one of the modern remaster's episodes.
Pieter's host advertises Quake II multiplayer for up to eight players, with no installation. It uses the FTE engine and presents a player-name field followed by Play. That makes the page useful when the aim is to enter a Quake II multiplayer session with little local setup.
The host identifies itself as an unofficial, non-commercial preservation project. Its compact launch page concentrates on joining play rather than distributing the commercial game's full enhanced package. Choose it for the multiplayer session described by the host, rather than as a replacement for every Quake II release.
Enter the name you want other players to see before pressing Play. The advertised eight-player limit describes this host; it is not a claim about every FTE server or every version of Quake II. If you want the original Quake setting instead, the separate QuakeWorld browser project serves that game.
Enter a player name and select Play on the Quake II host.
