This public test pairs the original game program with native rendering, input, audio and FMV handling. The project targets the NTSC-U 1.1 edition rather than every disc region.

The original missions behind a new Windows interface
Syphon Filter PC pairs the original PlayStation gameplay execution with a native Windows host for graphics, sound, movies and input. The project documents the 20-mission campaign flow, checkpoint restore and persistent mission unlocks. That makes progression part of the runtime’s stated scope, while the release remains labeled a public test.
The restored interface includes objectives, inventory, weapon information and a map with position and objective indicators. A separate Dossiers gallery sits in the launcher. These are useful orientation tools for returning to a mission, rather than a replacement for learning its route and objectives.
Sharper scenes, familiar authored spaces
The renderer adds higher-resolution geometry, perspective correction, configurable filtering and optional particle effects. Its dynamic lighting builds on the original authored vertex colors: lights, gunfire, fire and explosions can illuminate nearby surfaces, with posed character shadows. These changes affect presentation while the original game program still drives the mission.
Keyboard and mouse bindings are remappable, with retail-style gamepad controls as another choice. The launcher stages Graphics and Controls changes until Play. An optional Russian text pack changes text, while speech, music and cinematics still come from the selected USA image.
Keep the CUE and its BIN files together
This runtime requires Syphon Filter USA/NTSC-U revision 1.1, serial SCUS-94240. Select the CUE in the launcher, keep every referenced BIN beside it, and retain their filenames. The launcher remembers the image but does not copy it into the installation, so moving or deleting those files breaks that path.
Saves and launcher settings live under LocalAppData/SyphonFilterPC rather than inside the release folder. Preserve that directory when moving between machines. Mission selection normally follows campaign progress; the documented developer cheat marker changes that behavior, so it is not necessary for a normal first playthrough.
