BlueWake recompiles the GameCube version of The Wind Waker and adds platform-specific controls, rendering settings and mods. It remains based on the original disc rather than being a port of Wind Waker HD. Its documented areas include the opening, Outset Island, sailing and Windfall; later dungeons and boss fights remain less established than those early routes.
The optional Better Wind Waker features include Swift Sail, faster text and animation changes. Widescreen, texture packs and Smooth Motion are separate choices. That separation lets a returning player decide which conveniences to adopt instead of assuming every modification is required.
The Windows package asks for your own USA GZLE01 revision 0 disc image and requires a Direct3D 12 GPU and AVX2-capable CPU. ISO and GCM are accepted; an RVZ first needs conversion through the documented Dolphin route. The Linux route is a source build, while the Apple mobile route uses an Apple Silicon Mac and signing.
For iPhone or iPad, the README requires iOS or iPadOS 17, an A13 or newer device, Developer Mode, Xcode and substantial free Mac disk space. PadMint can organize the personal build. Touch controls have a layout editor; controller and keyboard mappings are also documented.
Wind Waker Recomp has moved into BlueWake. The current Windows BlueWake release replaces the older project build and uses the same AppData/BlueWake save location. Back up that folder before switching. The older experimental 60 FPS game logic was removed; optional Smooth Motion is a separate presentation feature.
On iPhone and iPad, use Game Data & Saves to export a backup before deleting the app, because deletion removes its local saves. Install updates over the existing application when possible. Area transitions can stall briefly, and demanding scenes can run slower on phones, so start with a modest rendering resolution before adding expensive effects.
