The first N64 Goemon adventure, specifically
Goemon 64: Recompiled brings Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon to native systems through N64Recomp and RT64. The supported game is the North American Nintendo 64 release. Goemon’s Great Adventure is a future goal, so this download is not a collection of both adventures.
The launcher reads assets from your own supported ROM. It can convert accepted ROM byte-order formats automatically, but format conversion does not add support for another region or another game. You do not need to compile the engine when using a suitable release package.
Choose smooth motion or the original cadence
The project offers higher display frame rates and an option to retain the original cadence. Its documentation says the frame-rate choice does not change gameplay speed. Widescreen and ultrawide presentation are supported, with an option to keep the HUD within a 16:9 area on a wider monitor.
Some cutscenes reveal animation quirks at extreme aspect ratios. If the edges distract from a scene, a narrower presentation is a useful first adjustment. For stutter, the project recommends the in-game frame-rate limiter instead of an external graphics-driver limiter.
Adjust the controller in the game’s menus
Input mappings, audio and graphics can be changed through menus usable with a mouse, keyboard or controller. Stick deadzone is adjustable, which is useful when a modern controller’s stick response differs from the original N64 pad. The project also provides Linux and Steam Deck installation guidance.
On PC, the renderer needs a supported modern graphics API and x86-64 CPUs need SSE4.1. The Mac requirements specify compatible Apple Silicon or newer Intel hardware and macOS 13 or later. Check the package and requirements together before starting.
Keep optional changes and progress together
Mods and texture packs can be installed through the mod menu or by dragging files onto the launcher before starting the game. They can then be enabled or disabled individually. Ray tracing and replacement models are listed as planned work, not a feature to expect from the base release.
Portable mode stores saves, settings and mods beside the executable when portable.txt is present. That is a convenient way to keep an installation together; preserve the whole folder when moving it rather than only the program file.
