About this version

This port translates the original MIPS code into a native runtime. Its launcher handles supported European and US discs; Japanese/Asian support is described as experimental.

Two-player fighting on PC

Bloody Roar II Recompiled brings the PlayStation 3D fighting game to Windows and Linux as a native executable built from translated MIPS code. The project documents two-player versus play and packages its launcher, OpenBIOS and optional mods together. Playing a release does not require Python or a compiler.

One executable handles supported European and US discs by detecting the disc you mount. Japan/Asia support is included experimentally but is not officially supported. Choose the disc version first rather than looking for a separate region-specific application.

Disc images and first launch

Extract the release for your operating system and select an image from your own game copy when the launcher asks. The documented formats include BIN/CUE, ISO and CHD. Keep the release’s accompanying launcher files and assets together rather than moving the executable alone.

OpenBIOS is bundled, so a retail PlayStation BIOS is optional. A compatible BIOS from your own hardware can be placed beside the executable if you prefer that route. The package does not include the retail disc data or a commercial BIOS. Supported disc identities are SLES-01722 for Europe and SCUS-94424 for the US.

Choosing visual and speed changes

Enhancements are off by default. The widescreen mod expands the 3D fight camera instead of merely stretching it, while menus and video remain in their original 4:3 presentation. PGXP aims to reduce polygon wobble and texture warping; the project says its effect needs at least 2× supersampling to be visible.

Turbo and faster loading solve different problems. Turbo changes the game’s pacing, so a higher rate also makes gameplay faster. CD Speed and Fast Loading instead shorten waits without that intended speed-up of the fight. Unlock All is another optional change, bypassing progression for characters and extras, and is skipped during netplay.

Arranging a versus session

The launcher offers Create and Join through Netplay, as well as LAN or direct-IP sessions. Both players should use the same release, region and operating system as specified in the current instructions. Matching the title alone is insufficient: the connection checks disc track layout and identity, so an EU disc cannot join a US-disc session.

The host’s enabled mod plan is applied to guests when the session starts, rather than combining everyone’s offline selections. Agree on the setup beforehand, especially speed-changing options. The networking framework is described as rollback-capable, but sessions use delay synchronization by default; that is not a promise that every match will use rollback.
