About this version

CorsixTH provides platform releases and installation documentation for its Theme Hospital engine. The project separates its engine code from the original game’s art and data.

A hospital full of management problems

CorsixTH recreates Theme Hospital’s business simulation, where treatment rooms, staff and hospital policy have to cope with an unruly flow of patients. The project includes the single-player campaign, diseases and rooms, management windows, and events such as emergencies, epidemics, earthquakes and VIP visits. That combination makes planning capacity as important as constructing the next room.

The maintainers describe the full campaign as completable. The reimplementation also adds custom campaigns and a built-in map editor, so finishing the original scenarios does not exhaust the kinds of hospitals you can manage.

More room to see and plan

High-resolution support, zoom and interface scaling let you adapt the hospital view to a modern screen. Subtitles and configurable hotkeys make the interface more flexible, while an adviser-message history helps recover information that passed while you were busy elsewhere.

Several changes are optional management conveniences. You can allow room building while paused, remove destroyed rooms for a fee and use unlimited save files. These options are useful when experimenting with a crowded layout; decide which rules you want before turning a campaign into a series of construction trials.

The engine still needs Theme Hospital’s assets

CorsixTH supplies the new application but uses graphics, sound and other data from the original game. Install the package for your operating system, then point it at the Theme Hospital installation or the HOSP folder copied from your disc. The creator’s getting-started guide also supports demo data, but that contains only one level and lacks most management screens.

Official releases include Windows and macOS builds and a Linux AppImage. Linux also has packaging options such as Flatpak and distribution repositories. Keep the package source clear when looking for help, since separately maintained wrappers can have their own installation behavior.

Where it differs from the original

Multiplayer/LAN and competing AI hospitals remain missing. Other gaps include the bonus rat level and some end-of-level presentation. These omissions are worth knowing before choosing CorsixTH specifically to revisit one of those features.

The original graphics do not include complete sets for every optional patient type, so enabling regular spawning of certain unusual conditions can cause visual anomalies. The project also lists some object-and-wall glitches. Its complete campaign claim does not mean every original feature or optional visual combination is identical.

Do I need the original game files?

CorsixTH needs the Theme Hospital demo or the full original game. The creator links to the demo and the GOG edition.
