Project ID: project:shipa-2-xerenge

The Xbox 360 racer rebuilt locally from a supported disc.

## About this version

Xerenge recompiles the game’s PowerPC code while supplying the required hardware services. The README documents European and US retail releases, not arbitrary beta dumps.

Native setup. Racing.

## Racing and Crash mode from the Xbox 360 release

Xerenge brings the retail Xbox 360 version of Burnout Revenge to a native program. The maintainer describes working races, Crash mode, replays, saves, videos and the licensed soundtrack. Its default timing preserves the console rhythm: races run against a 60-Hz clock and Crash mode uses 30 fps. A fast monitor does not automatically make the game run faster.

The default plume renderer draws at the window’s resolution, while an alternative Xenos backend provides a comparison when graphics differ. Occasional black flashes and brief texture errors remain. Frame interpolation is unfinished, so unlocking the frame rate is a separate choice from obtaining smoothly interpolated motion.

## The disc region matters

Use a supported European or US retail Xbox 360 image. These editions require different generated builds: the European version selects among its regional languages and videos, while the US release supplies American English and its own videos. Mixing a build and the other region’s files can fail immediately, even though both discs are supported.

The installer checks the image, extracts it, downloads the open-source tools and builds locally. It needs development prerequisites as well as a working graphics driver; it is not simply an archive containing a finished game and its assets. The prerequisite checker is worth running before starting a long build.

## Keep useful visual settings within reach

The installer’s bloom, motion-blur and renderer choices are stored in xerenge.conf and can be changed for later launches. Turning bloom off can leave the sky grey and the picture dull, because the game’s lighting relies on that pass. A flatter image is therefore not necessarily a broken disc.

On macOS the project uses plume; the alternative renderer can produce a black window. Apple Silicon has been tried on a specific machine, while Intel Mac support is a build target without a corresponding hardware play claim. Linux currently runs through X11. Match the platform instructions to your machine before selecting an installer.

## Do I need the original game files?

Your own supported European or US retail Xbox 360 disc image.

## How do I get started?

Follow the local build/launcher workflow so extraction and translation use your own disc.
