# Conker’s Bad Fur Day — Conker Recompiled

Canonical: https://playable.wtf/games/sciaschi-cbfd-recompiled/

Project ID: project:sciaschi-cbfd-recompiled

The N64 game rebuilt around N64ModernRuntime and RT64.

## About this version

The port starts from the community decompilation and targets the US game. Its launcher extracts the player’s assets locally; it does not ship Nintendo/Rare game data.

Native setup. Platformer.

## The original game: a very strange day out

Conker’s Bad Fur Day follows a hungover squirrel into an adventure whose cartoon animals come with adult humour. Running, climbing, swimming and a tail-assisted jump form the basic movement, but the situations keep changing: you can end up guiding a bouncing pitchfork, dodging obstacles on a jet board or aiming a shotgun at zombies.

Watch for the lightbulb above Conker’s head. It signals a context-sensitive action, often at a pad marked B, so the same button can do something different when the scene calls for it. That mix of ordinary platforming and specific comic set pieces explains why camera and aiming improvements are useful here. The port’s modern input options are described separately below.

## The N64 game with a more flexible camera

Conker Recompiled targets the US Nintendo 64 game. Its most practical changes are a free camera on the right stick or mouse, mouse and gyro aiming, adjustable field of view, and remappable controls. These are useful reasons to choose this port if the original controller layout is a barrier. Optional aiming aids include a reticle and lock-on settings.

RT64 supplies higher resolutions, anti-aliasing and widescreen across play, menus and split screen. High frame-rate presentation interpolates Conker, his shadow and the camera between the game’s frames. You can retain 4:3 cutscenes independently, and the original music, effects and voices are supported.

## Bring the right ROM and select your controls

Extract the release for Windows, Linux or Apple Silicon macOS, then use Load ROM and select your own US copy. The launcher remembers it for subsequent starts. European ROMs are not supported. Asset-only ROM hacks, including certain translations and uncensoring patches, can work, but changes to the original code are refused.

WASD moves by default; Space supplies the N64 A button, Left Shift B, Q Z and Enter Start. The Controls page lets you change those bindings. Controllers and N64 adapters have their own mapping support, and each controller gets a separate player in multiplayer. Configure the camera and aiming together, because those options determine how a modern pad feels.

## Keep regular saves alongside save states

The game’s EEPROM saves remain separate from save states. F5 saves a state, F7 restores it and F6 changes between nine slots, making the two systems useful for different purposes. Normal saves, settings and the stored ROM live in the platform’s ConkerRecompiled user-data folder; an empty portable.txt beside the executable switches to a portable arrangement.

The supplied mod set offers intro skipping, broader cutscene skipping and optional cheats. Texture packs are also supported. The maintainer reports an end-to-end playthrough, while separately noting that macOS has not been confirmed through to the end and Intel Macs have not been tried. Widescreen also crops the top and bottom of the pause menu’s blurred background.
